Wedding flower pressing can be an elegant way to make the most of your bouquet, creating a unique artwork that will last forever.
From receiving your flowers, the process takes me around eight to ten weeks. I use the traditional pressing method, working with hand-made wooden frames.

Many thanks to Lauren and Hector for these photographs of their beautiful autumnal wedding in Edinburgh. I created two companion artworks using the exquisite bouquet made for Lauren by Pyrus Botanicals. The blooms were seasonal, and locally grown.
Process
After the wedding, your bouquet should be kept in water, in a relatively cool place, and posted to me within one to two days. If you are leaving immediately after your big day, it’s a good idea to entrust the flower posting task to one of your wedding party. And if you are getting married on a Saturday, do wait until Monday before sending.
I will provide you with a simple postal pack including all you will need to send me your flowers safely, once you have made the booking for your pressing.
The pressing process can take up to six weeks as I use traditional wooden frame presses. Once pressing is complete, your artwork is created, framed and packed ready for shipping to you.
I try to source packaging that causes as little harm to the planet as possible — plastic-free, and as much re-used, recycled and recyclable material as I can.
Design
My most popular design for pressed wedding flowers is a flowing circular arrangement, using individual petals, leaves, seeds and buds, as well as whole flowers. ‘Meadow’ and delicate ‘bouquet’ style arrangements are also popular options.
There are some flowers that don’t press very well for the artworks I make, lilies and some roses for example. It is helpful if you can send me (or get your florist to send me) a list of the potential plants you’ll be using, or send a couple of photos of the sort of arrangements you’re going for.
One of the main things for you to consider is whether you would like a dark coloured background, or whether a light neutral would show off your flowers to best advantage. I can offer you some thoughts once I know more about your bouquet and any other flowers that you plan to use.
For ease of pricing, I offer two standard options for framing:
Square frames in natural wood, with non-reflective glass. These frames are hand-made in Edinburgh, size 19 x 19cm.
Rectangular metal frames, glass front and back and hung with linen ribbon.
These frames are ethically sourced and hand-made in India, size: 8” x 10 “ (20.32 x 25.4cm)
Bespoke sizing and framing is also possible of course.

Postage costs for the finished artworks are additional, and dependent on size and weight. It’s often not a big addition, but does differ slightly project to project.
A £75 deposit is due at the time of booking. Once your artworks are complete, I send photographs of the finished pieces. Payment is then due in full before I send your artworks to you.
